Kuari Pass is located in Uttarakhand in the Garhwal Himalayas. The Kuari Pass trek is amongst the best in the Garhwal Mountains. Famous for the enchanting view of the snow clad peaks, the trail takes you through lush green fields, remote villages and virgin forests. At an altitude of 3600mt., Kuari Pass Trek is like an amphitheatre where you can see the Kamet (7756m), Trishul (7120m), Chaukhamba (7128m), and the great divine peak of Nanda Devi (7817m) along with her twin sister Nanda Devi East (7434m) . Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India undertook several treks in the Garhwal Himalayas, including one over the Kuari Pass to Joshimath and since then it has come to be known as Curzon’s trail.

You get truly spectacular views of the Garhwal Himalayas peaks in this trek – Trishul (23,496 ft/7,120 m) o Kedarnath (22,994 ft/6,968 m), Kamet’s pyramid of granite (25,595 ft/7,756 m), Nilkanth (21,767 ft/6,596 m), the square-topped summits of Gori Parbat and Hathi Parbat, Badrinath, the icy crest of Dunagiri, Rishikot, Changabang (22,651 ft/6,864 m), Kedarnath and Chowkhamba (23,522 ft/7,128 m) and the legendary twin peaks of Nanda Devi, (25,643 ft/7,740 m), surrounded by an awesome 19,800-foot (6,000 m) wall which forms a sanctuary.

Itinerary

Day 1 DELHI – HARIDWAR – RISHIKESH (Morning Train/ Drive 1hrs.)

Early morning transfer to the railway station to catch the express train to Haridwar. The train journey takes approximately 4 hours. Arriving at Haridwar at lunch time midway, 0ne hrs. Short drive to Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganges. check in the hotel. Afternoon visit some of the temples of this holy town Rishikesh Himalayas and in the evening we will witness the ceremony. Shortly after sunset, the ‘puja’ is performed in all of the temples lining the river at the same time, with a cacophony of musical instruments and voices. Afterwards, offerings of lamps and flowers are made to the Ganges and it is a moving sight to watch hundreds of miniature lamps float along the river. Overnight & Dinner at hotel.

Day 2RISHIKESH – JOSHIMATH (1900mt./254km./8 hrs.)

Drive up to Joshimath through the confluence points of rivers namely, Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karanpryag covering a total of around 254km. Relish scrumptious breakfast and lunch on the way to Joshimath and upon arrival at the destination. Overnight in Hotel & Dinner.

Day 3JOSHIMATH – AULI – TALI (Drive 8km. / Trek 8 km./7 hrs.)

After early Breakfast 40 minutes drive to Auli , a Ski resort center further trek to Gorson Bughyal (Meadow).The trail beyond Gorson bughyal is steep in places, before crossing a rocky outcrop to a small lake named Tali Lake. The entire trek today is gradual ascent. Overnight in Tents & Dinner.

Day 4TALI – KHULARA (3395 mt.) VIA KUARI PASS (3600mt./7 hrs.)

Today the trail ascends the ridge above Tali and cairns marks our track. Just below the pass, the trail leads through a large meadow affording spectacular views of the Himalayas. North of Joshimath is the Chaukhamba range, Nilkanth (6596m) and Narayan Parbat (5965m), while Mana peak (7272m),Kamet (7756m) and Abi Gamin (7355m) extend to the Tibetan border. In the middle foreground, the main Himalayan chain in the vicinity of the Bhyundar valley and Hem Kund includes Nilgiri Parbat (6474m), Rataban (6166m), Ghori Parbat (6708m) and Hathi Parbat (6727m). Dunagairi (7066m) dominates the peaks to the north of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. The Kuari pass (3840m) is by no means demanding – we have our lunch here and then descent an hour to the base camp at Khulara.Overnight in Tents & Dinner.

Day 5Fully snow trek and snow climb (4000 mt.)

Wake up early to be up on the summit to see the sunrise on wide Himalayan panorama. Tale the pictures of Garhwal Himalayas peaks. The walk up to the summit would take a couple of hours and we descend to be in time for hot lunch at base camp.Overnight in Tents & Dinner.

Day 6KHULARA – TAPOVAN (1900mt.) – KARANPRYAG (730 mt. /Trek 10 km./Drive 110 km./8 hrs.)

The trek down all the way in last day to the Tapovan, the roadhead. After dive to Karanpryag It’s about 4 hours.

Day 7 KARANPRYAG – RISHIKESH – HARIDWAR (162km./ 6 hrs.)

After breakfast drive from Karanpryag to Haridwar and board the evening Shatabdi Express to be back in Delhi by 10:45pm. Overnight in Hotel & Dinner.
